Milestone Group Respite Program

Eligibility

All families who participate in the Milestone Respite Care Program are eligible to participate in Milestone's Group Respite sessions free of charge.

Dates, Time and Location

Group Respite is held twice a month at the Milestone Training Center, which is located at 4505 Shepherd Trail in Rockford, IL. One session is held on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The other session is held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Program Details

The Respite Program is conducted in a large gym. A wide variety of different sensory, fine and gross motor activities are provided. The staffing for the sessions is provided by Milestone, Inc. Snacks, such as crackers, jell-o, fruit juice, etc. are provided. A sack lunch is available for those individuals who have not had a dinner before they arrive for the session.

Family Responsibilities

Families are asked to bring necessities, if required, for bathroom needs, such as undergarments, diapers and extra clothing. Families need to make staff aware of any special medications and diets.

Reservations

The group size is limited, so families need to call early to reserve a place. This program is run on a first-call, first-served basis. The number to call to make reservations is 815-639-2973. If a reservation is made and the individual is unable to attend, please call as soon as possible so that another family can possibly be served. If a family only needs to use a portion of the time during the Saturday session, please notify staff so that another family may utilize the available time.

Costs

There is no charge for families that participate in the Milestone Respite Care Program. Families that are not involved in the Milestone Respite Care Program will be charged a fee of $8.00 per hour of the services provided.
